Being able to access files stored on my Drobo at home without making use of 3rd party software seems promising, and in my first day, is pretty cool. Setup was fine compared to other Drobo Apps. But there are some horrible flaws around usability, as the text colour of the various actions are deep grey against black, requiring cranking up the brightness to be able to barely perceive the icons and action buttons. Easily fixed I hope in an update, and would immediately earn at least another star. Creating a view for all local files would be great, as would clarity around sync states - the intentionality isnt apparent from the way the app is designed, but it is in the rather white-space rich documentation. A list of favourite places that is easily accessed, including recent folders would be welcome too. I spent $800 or so for my Drobo. Feels like being nickle and dimed to be asked to pay a pittance for an app.
I have a very stable 50mbps symmetrical internet connection, but this app is very slow and unresponsive. Its the type of app that Drobo should have made a long time ago so now that theyve taken their time, it really should be amazing. But it isnt.
App is extremely slow and overall worthless at this point when remote. Its still new so really hoping it gets improved soon. Overall, love my drobo but Drobo Access has awhile to go
The installation was easy. I followed the instructions on the YouTube video. Am using the app on both iPhone and iPad. Now I have access to our Drobo from anywhere, via web browser or iPhone or iPad. Very nice.
It does allow direct access from the phone which is on the same LAN after you install the Drobo Access app on the drobo box itself. Leave off mydrobo to avoid Internet access.
